Golden, Colorado · January

For the woman at  the threshold.

There's a space between what was and what's next.

  • Maybe you're closing a chapter you thought would last forever.
  • Maybe you're stepping into a new role, relationship, career, or version of yourself.
  • Or maybe you're simply looking back at the year behind you, realizing how much has changed, and wondering what you want from the year ahead.

Whatever season you're in, you deserve space to honor it.

A weekend away.
A shift that stays with you.

There's something powerful about stepping away from your everyday life long enough to hear yourself again.

Winter Threshold brings together meaningful Self-Trust work, the beauty of a luxury mountain retreat, and the connection of a small circle of women.

It definitely wasn't group therapy. But it also wasn't a typical wellness retreat. We hiked, we laughed, we sat with tea, we cried, we explored the questions that tend to stay in the shadows.

  1. A mountain lodge glowing at night, with string lights and a fire pit among the pines
The luxury of Being cared for

A beautiful mountain home, nourishing meals, fireside conversations, and thoughtful details that invite you to fully exhale.

  2. A hand holding an open brass compass engraved 'go slow, get curious'
    The power of The work

Guided reflection, The Self-Trust Compass, and meaningful experiences designed to help you discover what you're ready to release and what you're ready to welcome.

  3. Emily Romero smiling against a brick wall
    The gift of Personal connection

An intimate circle of just six women, with Emily guiding the experience and making time to explore your individual threshold.

The medicine
of winter.

The medicine
of winter.

Nature doesn't stay the same all year, and neither do we. In winter the trees let go, the ground goes quiet, and everything alive turns inward. Not because something has gone wrong, but because rest is part of the cycle. The deep work happens out of sight.

And there's medicine in the cold, too. Crisp mountain air wakes you up. It pulls you out of your head and into your body, into this breath, this moment. It's hard to overthink with snow falling on your face.

We, who have wintered, have learned some things.

Katherine May, Wintering

A threshold retreat for every season

  1. A path through blossoming cherry trees beside a stream

    Spring

    We begin…
A fresh start. A time to plant seeds.

  2. A quiet beach with grasses on the dunes at golden hour

    Summer

    We continue…
A time to salute the sun. A time to water the seeds.

  3. A trail through an aspen grove in autumn below the mountains

    Fall

    We celebrate…
A time for gratitude. A harvesting of the fruits of your labor.

  4. A snowy mountain peak above snow-covered pines

    Winter

    We restore…
A time to rest after harvest. A retreat inward with the medicine of darkness.

Questions

Before you say yes.

Is this only about the new year?

No. Winter is the setting, not the requirement. Winter Threshold is for any woman standing at a threshold: the end of a year, a business, a role, a relationship, or a season of life. If something is ending and someone new is emerging, this weekend is for you.

I've never done anything like this. Is that OK?

Yes. You don't need any experience or preparation. I'll guide you through every step.

How is this different from a private immersion?

A private immersion is a fully personal, one-on-one experience built entirely around your threshold. Winter Threshold is a shorter, small-group taste of the same Self-Trust work, at a smaller investment. Many women start here.

How is this different from a micro-retreat like MotherMoon?

Micro-retreats like MotherMoon gather just three women who are all moving through the same threshold, such as becoming a mother, so the whole experience is shaped around that one transition. Winter Threshold is a seasonal retreat for up to six women, each at her own threshold, coming together to honor what's been and welcome what's next.

Can I come with a friend?

Yes. Book two spots at the shared king room rate and you'll room together.

Do I have to give up my phone?

I'll encourage you to disconnect for the weekend so you can hear yourself. Your phone is yours, and you're welcome to keep it for anything you need.

Is this therapy?

No. Winter Threshold is a personal-development and coaching experience. It isn't psychotherapy or mental-health treatment, or a substitute for care from a qualified professional.

Meet Emily.

Emily Romero is endlessly fascinated by what happens at the thresholds of a woman's life. The moments when who you've been no longer quite fits, but who you're becoming hasn't fully arrived.

After more than 13 years as a therapist, she stepped away from the traditional therapy room to create The Self-Trust Model™ and a different kind of transformational experience. One that blends inner parts work, nervous system healing, ritual, adventure, and deep connection.

Today, Emily guides women through the thresholds that change us. Through intimate immersions, she bridges the depth of therapy with the experience of a retreat. Creating space for women to slow down, listen inward, ritualize what's ending, and trust themselves into what comes next.

She is the creator of The Self-Trust Model™, host of The Self-Trust Podcast, and author of two books, including You Can Trust Yourself.

When she's not guiding women through life's biggest thresholds, you'll probably find her on a mountain trail with her son in tow, planning her next trip, or drinking tea while chasing an idea that feels just a little too big.
